Proverbs 16:15-18
In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Outlook from
the In Book
I have heard people say before, “that guy or girl has the best of both worlds.” What two worlds are they talking about? Usually it simply means the same as to have your cake and eat it too. It refers to having the best of two situations here on this earth. But there is a better meaning for the phrase “Best of Both Worlds.” True wisdom from above and understanding of that wisdom can give a person the best of two real worlds. The world that we live in today and the world to come. Godley wisdom and understanding will cause a person to turn to God and His word in times of trials and tribulation. But you will often find the unsaved digging through the pages of the Bible during troubled times. It is understanding that the wisdom of God is needed during the good times in life as well as those painful ones. God’s word will help the upright to choose the highway in life that leads away from evil. In the world we live in we need all the guidance we can find to help us navigate past the snares and traps of Satan. And in choosing this life of surrender to God through accepting His Son Jesus as Saviour we also preserve our soul for the world to come. Yes sir, Christians are afforded the best of both worlds. A place in heaven has been secured for us through Christ. Navigating our path of life today means we need to remain humble and stay focused on God’s guiding hand.
The Word Walking In Me
Three keys to survival. Stay in touch with the author. Speak to God daily through pray and allow Him to speak to you through the pages of His Word. Then steadily fellowship with other believers God put together to encourage you. He calls them the Church!

Proverbs 16:19-21
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Outlook from
the In Book
Trusting in the Lord and his wisdom will always provide the best outcome. In our verse today it says people that trust the Lord, happy is he. Why is that? Well, most everyone has heard the term “Sound Advise”. What does that mean? On a very rare occasion will it have anything to do with speakers and amplifiers or music or something to do with your hearing. Sound Advice means that it is something that you can be sure of. It is something that if you do it, or act upon the advice of someone, you will come out good as a result. Back in Proverbs 2:7 it says that true wisdom comes from God. It’s not we who figure out things, it’s God sharing the wisdom of all ages with us. So if we truly trust the Lord we will respect what He has to say. If we respect what He says we will act upon that word. If we act upon that advice we will always come out right. Why, because God has laid up for us Sound Wisdom. “Sound Advice”. Prov. 2:7 also says it will be a buckler to us. Ok so that is not a term we use too much today. A Buckler was a small shield that was carried on the arm or in hand to defend you when in a hand-to-hand combat. The wisdom of God is just that. It becomes our shield as we walk through this life in hand-to-hand combat with the sin, Satan and self. What does that mean? It means we place faith in what God says and use it as our defense. Simply, “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good.”
The Word Walking In Me
I believe what God is saying in the book of Proverbs, is also what He was saying in Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. It is not just hearing and reading what God says, it is believing and using it. That’s faith. And that is SOUND ADVICE!

Proverbs 16:22-24
Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Outlook
from the In Book
If I were to ask you to walk on a path of boards that were two-foot in length and each one one-foot in width, would you be ok with that? Using one hundred of these boards we can make a two foot wide path, one hundred feet long. Plenty of space for your entire foot and some left over. Most people would say sure, I could follow that path. Now let me add this. What if on the left of that path there was a cliff that fell some one hundred feet to a stony river bed below? Now would you walk that path? Ok, how about if both sides were cliffs of the same depth? Now lets add ropes to tie the boards together and some to hang onto. Now will you walk that path? One last thing, the wind is blowing your hanging bridge of boards back and forth a bit. Now will you go across? Why Not? What changed? These are the same boards you were willing to walk on when you thought they were on the ground. The difference is all the surrounding. The boards never changed. The reason most people will not cross a swinging rope bridge is not they are afraid of the ropes and wood, they are afraid of the fall. The first time I ever crossed a bridge like that my uncle laughed like crazy at me. He just ran on across. I was clinging for dear life. After about a week I was running across the bridge too. What changed? I learned to trust the bridge. Understanding the safety in God’s wisdom is the wellspring of life. We need desperately today to teach that to those around us.
The Word Walking In Me
I ran across, but I still used the ropes as guides. They seem to give me balance. Reading God’s word everyday does the same. It gives your life balance. Read some everyday.

Proverbs 16:25-28
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends..
Outlook from
the In Book
“I’m mad at the world and don’t care who knows it!” Ever felt that way? Sure you have. We all have. But are you always that way? Could you even imagine living your life and always being mad? Always looking for something wrong. Always trying to find a way to get the best over on someone else. Well believe it or not there are lots of people like that. The problem is, the Bible seems to refer to those consistently mad and angry people as the lost in this world. Our verses today say the UNGODLY person diggeth up evil. The FROWARD, or crooked person soweth strife. A WHISPERER, or gossiper separates friends. It seems to be the unsaved that live that way. Always mad at the world and everything around them. Always trying to pick a fight with everyone. Truth be known, you know some of those people. Question is; do they call themselves children of God? In Galatians 5 it says the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Why? Because we have now died to self and selfishness and live in and for Christ. It’s harder to get hurt if you’re dead. It’s no longer about what I want; it’s all about what God wants.
The Word Walking In Me
If you are angry today, take it to the cross of Calvary and leave it there. Talk with your Pastor or Youth leader or Christian Friend. Ask them to pray with you to stop being angry and hurt. Examine your life. Ask yourself, “Does Christ really reside in me?” If not, just ask Him to save you. He promised He would. Give yourself to Jesus completely and He will come in and give you peace.

Proverbs 16:29-31
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leaded him into the way that is not good. He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Outlook
from the In Book
When I was younger I use to get into trouble. I know, those of you that know me find that hard to believe, but its true. A teacher once said, “Son, I think you just set around and try to think up ways of getting in trouble.” Well I didn’t think that was what I was doing at the time. But looking back, I can now see where I might have been doing just exactly that. When I would try to think up ways to get around rules or authority, that is exactly what I was doing. Planning on doing something that would eventually get me in trouble. And not just me. It always seemed that I would try to talk others into joining me. Which brought about another problem. When I wasn’t thinking of something terrible to do, they were. And they would talk me into doing what they thought up. Now you have a team of troublemakers each taking turns causing the others to get into trouble. The Bible warns of people who never grow up or grow out of that way of life. They are always trying to beat the system. Some get hooked on gambling, some just always looking for that get rich quick scheme, and some looking for power. They are always trying to get people on their side for something or another. In the church, the family of God there should not be sides taken or such activity found. We should all be on a mission to reach the lost for Christ.
The Word Walking In Me
Our verses today say, “He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things.” That means some people think hard of how they might get back, or get even. What are you doing when you close your eyes? Are you thinking of getting even, or reaching God? Today lets get closer to God.

Proverbs 16:32-33
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
Outlook
from the In Book
Some believe that brute force and power is everything. But for that strength and that power to be effective you need to have someone with a clear mind and very much in control leading it. Every army needs a General to make the decision where and when and how to fight. When the war is complete, the men come home to a heroes welcome, but in the history books, the General is remembered for winning the war. Every company has a president or leadership. All the employees really make it happen, but when the job is finished the leadership receives the pat on the back. By the same way, if a company fails or a war is lost, the shame there is placed firmly on the shoulders of the leadership. It is a great thing to be strong and brave, but the harder thing to do is be in control and wise. It is far better to rule your emotions and be in control of self than to conquer a land and be in control of nothing.
The Word Walking In Me
In the book of James in chapter 3 it says the tongue is a little member that no man can tame. The smallest member of the body seems the hardest to control. So if you cannot control the muscle of the tongue, you better learn how to control the emotion that wags it.

Proverbs 17:1-4
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts. A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
Outlook
from the In Book
In the past few years there has been a company that has come out with a commercial that says “Dirty Mouth?...Clean It Up!” They of course are suggesting that you do so by chewing their brand of gum. While that gum may do many things to clean your mouth, freshen your breath and possibly remove debris from between your teeth, it only works for a short time and then you will need to chew another piece. To clean up the mouth from hurtful and harmful conversation you need a lot more than gum, toothpaste or mouthwash. You need a change of heart. Just as metal is tried by the fire of a smelting pot, the conversation that comes from our mouth is tried by the flame that burns in the heart of man. If you are on fire for the Lord, the flame in your heart will desire to mingle your conversation with the love you have for Him. Paul says In Ephesians 4:14-15 it says “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Our speech will tell those around whose we are. But those whose heart burns with a desire toward trouble will find themselves drawn to the false lips and naughty tongue of the world. Gossip is something God truly hates.
The Word Walking In Me
What is the flame of your heart burning for today? The truth of God’s word and fellowship of His saints? Or the gossip that destroys others and makes God sick? Dirty Mouth? Clean it up!

Proverbs 17:5-8
Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince. A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
Outlook
from the In Book
Get around any grandparent, mention their grandchildren and you will see a book full of pictures and hear an hour worth of tales on how wonderful and magnificent their grandchildren are. They are able to leap tall building in a single bound, diapers and all. I sort of make fun of it, but the Bible told us centuries ago that this was how it is suppose to be. Children’s Children are the crown of old men (and also of gracefully aging women). Grandparents talk more about the accomplishments of a 5 year old in kindergarten than they do of their own children, even if their child is a rocket scientist that went to the moon. And it’s great to be able to introduce your children to their grandparents. They have so many more exciting stories to tell and more time to tell them. My wife, our children and I are very fortunate in that we had godly men to look to for examples in our lives. My father was a great example of a God fearing man before he passed away. There is my wives father who is a great Christian witness before them even today, (as well as the family jokester). But there is also our Heavenly Father. I count myself very fortunate to have 3 Godly forefather examples to give to my children. But even if I had only one, if that one was God the Father, that would be enough. The glory of children is their fathers. I love all of mine
The Word Walking In Me
Have you introduced your children to their forefathers? They have wonderful stories to tell. Some are recorded in the pages of the Bible. Some are recorded in the hearts of those of us that love them.

Proverbs 17:9-12
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool. An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him. Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
Outlook
from the In Book
Just think for a second. What do you think happens to a man or woman that might by chance run up on a mother bear that has just had her cubs taken from her? Your right, it is not petting zoo time. That person would most likely be torn to bits by the powerful claws and paws of this angry mother bear. The idea that a person who plays in their foolish ways will be able to someday break free is, well foolish. I guess that is why the writers in Proverbs called them a fool. The playful sin that they are in will continue to entangle and trap them until they are totally destroyed by what they believe to be fun. The sad part is they never see it trapping them until it is too late. Their joy will turn to sorrow. Their play becomes a controlling slave master. They are no longer free to do what they want, but must serve the sin that has engulfed them. How can they ever be free? Only through the grace of God can a person be saved and be freed from sins grip. God calls you to freedom, safety, and His Son Jesus. Can you hear the call in your heart? Or are the bears outside your door?
The Word Walking In Me
If it feels like the world has enslaved you and you want to be free, cry out to a Holy God and ask for forgiveness. He is willing to save you. If you desire to be free and be saved there is good news. It means He is calling you now. Don’t put it off till it’s too late.

Proverbs 17:13-15
Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with. He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Outlook
from the In Book
Have you ever tried to put toothpaste back in the tube once it has been squeezed out? I guess it can be done, but it is never easy. But a question might be raised; why did you squeeze so much out that you would want to put it back in? It may have just been carelessness by leaving the lid off after its use. Then you lean on it and…Opps. Or maybe you were about to squeeze out a small amount and someone scared you. You lose control for just a split second and….splat. Could it be you were in a hurry and did not realize how hard you squished the sides of the tube and...plop...out it came. Life can sort of be like that sometimes. Carelessness will cause us to say or do something that causes just a little trouble at first, but if not properly dealt with it causes years of problems. Or people may come into our life and distract us from the calling God has placed upon us. We get out of God’s perfect will and life seems to be one struggle after another. Then again it may just be that we waited too long to do something or we are in just too big of a hurry everything seems to be piled on our plates at once. Oh how we would like to put things back in order. But it’s often like putting toothpaste backing the tube. We may not always be able to redo things, but we can always learn from them. We may have to live with the results of our actions for years to come, but God will forgive us from the penalty of sin.
The Word Walking In Me
Sin is a trap. It entices you to come, and then lies and tells you there is no hope now that you’re here. Sin is a problem in life. But God has a solution to sin grip on us. It’s by believing in Jesus Christ and living by His word. It helps us keep a lid on life.

Proverbs 17:16-19
Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it? A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend. He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth
Outlook
from the In Book
Which if these two do you think would be easier? To fight with someone you don’t like and devise a plan to outwit and beat them, or to overcome a passion within yourself? If we are all honest we must say that fighting that old self will is the hardest battle of all. To be able to overcome my own selfish desires and live for Christ and His desires may at times seem difficult. Learning to forfeit our own will usually comes with years of trial and error. It sometimes takes days, weeks and even months of prayer asking the Lord for strength and wisdom in areas of our life. Sometimes we find our best friendships are developed during such times. Someone who comes along side and shares the struggle with you. Christ, who is our best friend brought them there with wisdom in life. Old age does not always bring wisdom. There have been many a king and ruler that were not righteous men that used their power and might to topple nations, but never learned how to control themselves. And ultimately their own selfish passions and desires have destroyed themselves and often the lives of those around them. True wisdom is found in a long relationship with God. Like any other relationship, that takes time. It takes commitment to one another. It takes understanding the others desire. It takes love for one another. A long slow walk with God in the midst of a trial brings contentment that is simply not comprehendible by a lost world.
The Word Walking In Me
You can take your chances, or strike hands as the Bible says, with the world if you want. But the ends of all matters are in the hands of God. I’ll take my chances with God.

Proverbs 17:20-22
He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief. He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Outlook
from the In Book
It has long been a documented fact that happy, smiling people seem to be healthier and live longer. In fact there was a study done one time that concluded that people who smile live longer than people who do not smile. Stop reading this just for a minute and go look in the mirror. I am so afraid that some of you might not make it through this day! I have long said that Christians ought to be the happiest people in the world. We have so much more to look forward to. If something would happen to me today and my life would be ended here on earth, God says I have a home waiting for me in heaven. If I live through this day, God says He will never leave me nor forsake me. If I am hurting physically or spiritually, His word has said that He is the great physician. If I am lonely, He is always ready to listen and through the power of the Holy Spirit whisper sweet peace to me. Why shouldn’t we be happy? Our text today says; A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
The Word Walking In Me
Rejoice in the Lord always... again I say REJOICE. If you are feeling
down today try this. Get out an old Hymn book and find the peppiest song you
can find and start praising God. It may surprise you that in just a few

Proverbs 17:23-25
A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment. Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Outlook
from the In Book
You hear people say, “I hope that comes true.” Or, “Hope for the best!” What they are really saying is wish for the best or I wish that would come true. There is no assurance in there hope. It is wishful thinking at best. Our verse today says the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. They run too and fro on this earth trying one theory after another in an attempts to find satisfaction that can only be found in an eternal binding relationship with Jesus Christ. When the bible speaks about hope, it is not referring to that kind of dreamy wishful hope. Rather it is a sure thing. When you place something in a hope chest you know that item is there. Your hope for that thing in the hope chest is sure, but what lies ahead is still a mystery. So it is in our salvation. When I placed my faith in Christ, in so doing I placed my life in His. At that very moment my salvation became a sure thing. I no longer wonder if I will get to heaven when I die. I know that is sure. My hope is wrapped up in Jesus Christ. My hope for eternity is no longer a wishful dream, but a confidence in Him. Do I know what heaven will be like? Not completely. What lies ahead is still a mystery to me. But my vision in life has changed. I now have a single focus. That is to know and grow closer to God everyday. Life is so much easier with only one thing to do.
The Word Walking In Me
Edward Mote a cabinetmaker turned preacher, one morning in 1834 on his walk to work wrote a song that explains it quite well. It says:
“My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus Name…... “And all we can say is, AMEN.

Proverbs 17:26-28
Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Outlook
from the In Book
God allowed me the privilege of being the Pastor of a man named Bob who has now gone home to be with the Lord. Bob had many wise sayings and jokes that he loved to share with just about anyone that would listen. One was; “It is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid that open it and remove all doubt.” I know that’s not a Bob original, but I’ll always remember him when I hear it. The Bible also says that someone who is a good listener and does not feel the need to talk all the time is believed to be wise. Even a fool can be thought of as wise if they don’t say anything to prove otherwise. I’ve also heard it said God gave us two ears and one mouth so we ought to listen twice as much as we talk. Have you noticed most really intelligent people seem to be excellent listeners? Have you ever stopped to think about why that might be? It very well could be that the reason they are so wise in the first place is they have listened and learned so much from so many. Being wise though is more than just listening. It is choosing who and what you listen too. In the world today there is a flood of information out there. But it is not all such good information. Some of it will lead you astray from the will of God. So it is not only wise to listen, but also to select the right people to be around so you know you are hearing the right things. One thing is for sure, we need to learn to tune out the world a bit more and tune into God’s word. It is the wisdom for all the ages.
The Word Walking In Me
Finding a quiet time and place where you can get alone with God each day is so rewarding. If you do not already have such a time and place I would encourage you to make that a priority in the days to come. Then read your Bible there and listen to God.

All Devotions will be written and distributed Monday through Friday.
On

We have never given out Bible reading for Sundays.
The reason is simple to us.
We want you to be reading and studying whatever
the Lord has laid on your Pastors heart for that week.
Whatever his text is for the Morning and Evening Service
was given to him by God for your specific needs.
The principal for this is found in the book of

Proverbs 18:1-4
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach. The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
Outlook
from the In Book
There are many new books out trying to help people find themselves. Self Esteem is a buzzword. The idea is if you don’t feel good about yourself, how can you even hope to survive? The sad thing is when most people get to the end of the road to find out who they are, they’re often disappointed. If you do an honest self-examination you find you’re just like everyone else. A different talent and a different way of life maybe, but other than material differences, we are much the same. No better and no worse than anyone else. Searches of ones self are often driven by self pride. Can you imagine spending a lifetime searching to find we are all just sinful creatures searching for the truth? Real truth will lead you to God. God told us in the Bible that man really did not want to know the truth, what they want is to find a lie. That somehow they are better or in some way different than the rest of the world. When the real truth is, to really find ourselves, we must first have God in our life. Once we make God director of our life, He will show us just what He created us to be. Isn’t that really what we want? Not to know who we are, but who we may become. I heard it once said, “Life is a stage and we are all actors there in.” The question then is who is directing the continuing saga of your life?
The Word Walking In Me
Giving our heart to the Lord is a one-time thing. You only need to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour once to be eternally secure in that salvation. But giving our life over to God is a daily struggle. Today again, let’s just bow our heart to the Lord and tell Him, “I am here today to serve you Lord. Make of me what you need me to be. Be the Director of my life today. Amen.”

Proverbs 18:5-8
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment. A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Outlook
from the In Book
Some people are good storytellers. They captivate your attention with tales of adventure or mystery. It almost seems you’re right there in the living the story line. I love to hear a great storyteller speak. If told well it is every bit as good as reading a great book or watching a suspenseful movie. Now lets imagine for a moment that the story teller suddenly put your name and life into the tale. Clear enough that everyone around knew they were speaking of you. But they have twisted the truth and several of the details are out right lies. The story is exciting, but not true. What is being told makes you sound like some terrible heartless person. You stand up and say “hey, that’s not true!” Only to be told to sit down and be quiet. Others yell, “Your ruining the story.” The person telling the tail of lies seems energized by the crowd and begins really altering the facts knowing that no one will listen to you and the truth. The truth seems irrelevant. What matters is that people will listen and the story is alluring. This next statement should not surprise you, but liars love to lie. They love to spin their tales of trash. The more people listen, the more outlandish the stories become. But sooner or latter, once they drag another and then another into their tales of deceit, people realize this person is a story teller. And over time fewer and fewer people will listen to them. Even if they tell the truth they are now suspect of telling a lie. The love of attention at any cost has brought shame and embarrassment. A fool's mouth is his destruction.
The Word Walking In Me
You may not be able to avoid the liars in life. But you can live so as to make sure their tales are unbelievable. A good testimony will always outwit the liar. Live for Christ and let Him deal with liars.

Proverbs 18:9-12
He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
Outlook from
the In Book
A few years ago I had the privilege of going to Pigeon Forge in Tennessee with our teen youth group for a Christian Youth Retreat. While there we saw hundreds of attractions, rides and activities available. One of them was a ride where you sat in a Bench type chair made for two people. They would harness you in and then release a switch. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, this chair was hooked to two huge rubber band-like straps. Each one hooked to two tall towering poles on either side and stretched to its fullest. When they would flip the switch to release the chair, these two rubber band-like straps shot you like a slingshot, straight up into the air. It seemed as though you might go all the way to the moon. And then, when they had reached their stretched limit in height up into the sky, they would shoot you back toward the ground at almost lightning speed. And on the way back down GRAVITY WAS HELPING! I had watched several people do this with no problems. It was not the height I feared, nor the speed, or even getting sick. My questions was, is it strong enough to hold ME! The difference was this. I weighed over 280lbs. at that time and I had not seen anyone else that size on there. But I did it anyway and it was a blast. I said that to say this. The love of the Lord is a strong tower. When I turned myself over to the LORD it was because of His saving grace, and I knew from seeing others who had done the same, He was strong enough to hold ME too.
The Word Walking In Me
I was right. After years of walking with Christ, through good and bad times in my life, He is strong enough to hold me. And friend, He is strong enough to hold you too. The Lord is a strong tower and in Him you are safe. Thank Him for that today, will you?

Proverbs 18:13-16
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
Outlook
from the In Book
Coming through, make way, step aside please, let the man through...they have a gift. This is probably not the way you were greeted at the last Christmas or Birthday party you brought a gift to. Only for a very few reasons would that be the greeting. If the gift was so big that it took more than one person to carry it you may hear this greeting. Or if the gift you were carrying was of such great value this might be the words people would hear. Then again it could be that the gift is so fragile that the least little touch or dropping it would cause irrevocable damage. But for the child of God the gift spoken of in our passage today is probably not that type of gift. This gift is one that is given to you personally by God. You are specially prepared by God for a special purpose in this life. And God has gifted you to carry out that ministry He desires of you and designed you for. But thinking of it, this gift also has all of the above characteristics. It is way to large for you to handle. So God said He would never leave you nor forsake you. It is of such great value that He has placed the Holy Spirit there as a guard or as the book of Ephesians says a seal. And you and your gift are of such value that Jesus, the Son of God Himself came down from Heaven to a sinful world to pay the price of it. Coming through, make way, step aside please, let the man through...They have a gift. This gift will bring you great joy and satisfaction. When used to glorify God it brings you before exactly who God intended for you to be with. And finally with Jesus Himself.
The Word Walking In Me
Ask God today to help you either find the area of life you are gifted in, or use it if you know what it is. You will find such joy in doing what you were created to do. There is joy in serving Jesus.

Proverbs 18:17-19
He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him. The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty. A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Outlook
from the In Book
Decisions, decisions. They can drive you crazy. Who is going to make them? What makes that decision right? How do we know its right? Just the thought of two different ideas and having to decide between them has driven good friends far apart. Not the decision that was made, but the decision never made because they could not agree on how to agree. Sometimes it would be better to set down and just agree on how a decision will be made before that ever comes to be a problem. In verse 18 the Bible says that “The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.” In Bible times the casting of lots was accepted as a fair and just way to decide an issue. It was believed that God, being in overall control of everything, would then decide the issue Himself. It was then accepted as the will of God and no man could argue against that. Today in our Church we do very much the same thing. When an issue is in dispute, we first search out God’s word for an answer all the while we pray for clear understanding. Sometimes God will give us clarity of mind and a decision will be made at that point. If not, we then present it to the church board. A group of men made up of the Pastor, deacons, and trustees elected by the church to oversee such matters. If the issue is not resolved there it is taken to the church membership where every member has as voice on the matter. We believe that God intervenes and decides the matter for Himself through the members of His body the Church. And what God decides in final.
The Word Walking In Me
Ultimately, we want God’s will in all matters. Have you wrestled with something in your life and desire to know the will of God? Pray, read Gods word, seek Godly counsel and let God decide.

Proverbs 18:20-22
A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
Outlook
from the In Book
I remember hearing as a boy, “that mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble some day.” Today’s passages ring of that very statement. For whether it is for good or bad, a person will have to live with what they have said. Once the words tumble from between your lips, no matter how hard you may try, you can never take them back. Hurtful, slanderous words will cut like a knife to the very heart of another person. Some people try to gain popularity and friends with fine words and glamorous speeches. But if their life does not match their statements it often becomes their downfall. It seems that it is easier to forgive, and yes, even forget a physical punishment faster and easier than a verbal abuse. Satan continues to replay the words in your mind until they become like a recording playing over and over every time you see the person that said them. Even in the book of James it was written that the tongue is a hard thing to tame. In the 3rd chapter of James it says that “the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” Oh how careful we need to be of what we say. We need to make the words we speak have meaning and be spoken with love for one another.
The Word Walking In Me
In Psalms 19:14 it says; “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Who could say it any better than that?

Proverbs 18:23-24
The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Outlook
from the In Book
Lets imagine for just a second that you have moved to a new city. You’re not married. You have no children. The city you have moved to has none of your family living there or close by and you know absolutely no one. How do you go about making new friends? First you would want to try and find people with likes and dislikes similar to yours. Next you want to find people that will not judge you too harshly, but if they are going to be true friends, will also be honest with you. Then there is that trust factor. You need some people that you can really trust with all your personal and private problems and cares. And really you might want them to be able to trust you too. Some people that will not spread gossip about you when you mess up. (And you will mess up) And also people that will help you when you need it. So how do you go about finding people like that? The answer is, start being a person like that. In order to find friends you need to be friendly. That is one reason God gave us the church. You can start out by finding a church where people believe like you do. They will like and dislike many of the same things. A friendly group of people that will be glad to help you during those tough times. But even in Church, if you want people to be friendly, you need to jump in and be friendly too. To have a church adopt you, you need to become part of the church. You need to adopt the church
The Word Walking In Me
Who from your church family have you reached out to today? Think of someone, pray for them, call them, send them a card, or if time allows, go visit them. To have friends…. BE FRIENDLY!!!

Proverbs 19:1-4
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD. Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
Outlook
from the In Book
It seems harder and harder these days to find any real leadership desire among qualified people. Almost everyone wants to be told what to do and when to do it. Very few will step up and take the lead. Part of the reason for this I believe is they will have no one to blame for anything if things go wrong. If you’re out there in front leading everyone else, then who are you going to blame when things don’t work out? And no matter how hard you try, things do not always work out. If someone does finally lead and something backfires they will look to the left, no one there to blame. Look to the right, not a soul there to pin it on. So then they look up and start blaming God. We all know that makes good sense right? If God is in control of everything, then He must have caused this terrible situation to happen also. So, then it’s God’s fault and why are you upset with me? Well as good as that may sound, it is not always true. God allows us from time to time to make mistakes and we are supposed to learn from them. In our verses today it says that the “FOOLISH” man perverts his way. That means he got himself into a predicament. He caused his own problems. It was his fault. But the predicament and problem are not the reason he is referred to as the foolish man. He’s foolish because he tries to blame God
The Word Walking In Me
Lets not run from responsibility just because there is no one to blame. Sometimes the lesson we need to learn is humility. Simply acknowledge you’re like the rest of us, not perfect. Ask for God’s forgiveness and others if necessary and move on. You’ll get farther with God’s blessings than blaming Him for your mistakes.

Proverbs 19:5-8
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him. He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Outlook
from the In Book
Ever hear anyone say anything like; “Friends… Who needs them? I can do it myself. I can get along on my own. I don’t need anybody’s help. Right? I don’t need anybody.” Maybe you’ve even said something similar. Possibly right after you or an idea of yours was shunned by someone. Maybe it was at a gathering when you showed up and were the only one dressed a certain way. It could even be that you grew up being put off by those around you so now feel as if you do not need people in your life at all. The problem is, your living a lie. We do need friends. We can’t make it on our own. We need other’s in our lives. It’s inherent in us to want to be liked. We want to have other people approval. Jesus often talked of friends and family. God created a church for just that reason. So that people can complement one another. No, not say good thing, although that would be nice and is proper. But I mean complement one another with the talents and abilities that each of us have and were given by the Holy Spirit. You know what really makes a person poor? Not the clothes they have or where they live. Not the amount of money they have in their pockets or the car they drive. What really makes a person poor is no one to trust in them. No one to encourage them or pick them up when they fall. A person with few or no friends is poor indeed.
The Word Walking In Me
How would you like to make someone rich today? If you think you can’t, your wrong. Go be someone’s real friend. You will give them something money can never buy. Introduce them to your friend Jesus. Then you have given them uncountable riches.
