Proverbs 14:8-11
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit. Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour. The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy. The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
Outlook from
the In Book
What is it that makes a man desire to be saved? Is it a need for a better life? No not usually. Although to come to know Christ as Saviour allows you the joys and the blessing of God. That is not normally what drives a man to his knees before God. What must a man know before he can receive Christ as Saviour? Must he know that Jesus died on the cross of Calvary and that the blood will wash away his sin? Yes he must know that, but that knowledge alone will not cause a man to accept Christ as his Saviour. So what is it that a man must have to be saved? He must have a clear understanding of the fact that he is a sinner. That the sin in his life is filthy before a Holy God. In our verses today it says “The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way” and “among the righteous there is favour.” Why is there favor or acceptance among the righteous? Simply for the fact that he has understood his ways. He knows that he is a sinner and that the ultimate sin would be to reject Christ’s total payment for that sin. Our verse also say that “the folly of fools is deceit. Fools make a mock at sin.” But the lost man never seems to get it. Sin seems to be a way of life to them and they see no need to change. And in the end the life of the foolish will come to a eternal end of torment. While the upright will flourish in the house of the Lord forever.
The Word Walking In Me
Self and sin keep us from salvation. The pride of not wanting to admit that our sin is but for a moment and killing us day by day. Confessions and Christ brings contentment. Knowing that eternal joy is in the person of Jesus Christ who takes away all our sins.

Proverbs 14:12-15
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness. 4The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
Outlook
from the In Book
No matter who we are, and what we are doing, there always seems to be three ways to do things. No, that is not a typo; I meant to write three ways. First there is the wrong way. Nobody really wants to do things the wrong way. You’ll never hear someone say, “Hey lets just do this all wrong to see what will happen.” They know what will happen. It will come out wrong. Next there is the right way. But it always seems that the right way includes reading the directions and doing things in a certain order and so on. That sounds like it could take a long time. So we almost always try the third way. OUR WAY. A few shortcuts here, not so much reading there, and its done. But, what do I do with the parts left over? Or when things start to go wrong we ask, “how come?” Well the reason is that there are really only two ways to do things. Anything that is not the right way is automatically the wrong way. We can’t take shortcuts in life either. Not reading God’s word and expecting life to be ok won’t work. The Bible warned us about these ways thousands of years ago. The way that seems right to man, the short cuts, no commitment, do real desire for God in our lives, the “I’ll have God when I want Him” attitude is the wrong way… and always ends in death.
The Word Walking In Me
What is the right way? Turning our lives over to God completely. Not holding anything back. Opening the Bible everyday and reading the instruction book to life. And also stay in touch with the manufacturer for any updates on the product He created, which is you. Remember if we follow the instructions, things go better.

Proverbs 14:16-19
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated. The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Outlook from
the In Book
The cost of living is a subject on peoples minds today. Fuel prices seem to be rising at alarming rates. With the cost of transportation going up, the cost of all items transported by air, rail or truck also must go up. Corporations too are feeling the pinch. This reflects in the average workers paycheck remaining the same or in many cases being cut and going down. The pinch on finances from both sides causes bigger ticket items to also slump in sales. Houses, cars, and boats all decline in sales. It all amounts to what we call the cost of living. But what is the true cost of living. The answer, “everything.” The cost of living for self and this world always costs everything. Sin and the lifestyle that accompanies it costs friendships, relationships, incarcerations, health, dignity, self esteem, reputations, and more. There is always just one more party to go to. One more bet to place. One more drug to do. One more this or that until life is gone. Then sin has cost you everything. Then at journeys end here on earth, without Christ it also costs eternal life. In other words the simple inherit folly. Living confident that you always will have one more day to get things right. The Christian life also costs everything. It cost Christ His life to pay for your sin and He asks that you completely devote your life to Him. But when you pay that price you inherit a good testimony, trust, true friends, freedom and eternal life. Now friend that is a cost of living worth paying for.
The Word Walking In Me
If you must invest everything, why not invest it with the one that gives the greatest return. Invest everything in the world and end up with nothing. Give your life to Christ and get everything. Hum!

Proverbs 14:20-23
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends. He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good. In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
Outlook
from the In Book
A few years back there was a program called the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It took us into the homes of the ultra rich and famous people of the world. It would show us the vacation spots that they could afford and the cars and toys that they all had. It was a very popular show as everyone wanted to see what the rich lived like. I wonder what type of viewing they would have gotten if they called the show Lifestyles of the Poor and Lonely? Taking us into the back allies where some scrap by for existence. Or follow along with a family that has been reduced to living in their car because some of the rich and famous cared more about their bottom line than the people that helped them get there. Taking us into the home of a single parent that struggles week after week just to pay the rent and have a few items of food for the family to eat. If it would show a Rescue Mission with people gathered around just thanking God for one more plate of food to eat that day. I wonder what kind of viewership that would have received. Maybe pretty good for a few weeks. But after it began to make some feel guilty about not reaching out to help here and there I am sure the ratings would fall off suddenly. I know there are some that are in tough times because they are not doing what they should. But there are also those that have just been forgotten. Have we forgotten them too?
The Word Walking In Me
If you want to find a ministry where people are normally grateful immediately for what you do for them, find a Rescue Mission in your area nd volunteer to help out. God will send a blessing.

Proverbs 14:24-26
The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly. A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies. In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Outlook
from the In Book
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to turn the corner where you live and see fire trucks and a crowd gathered around what was once your home? I have not only thought of it, but also lived it. Everything I thought I loved so much was in that house. My records, (for those of you that are teens or younger, they were like CD’s only bigger. Ask someone who lived in the 60’s to explain it) our pictures, my guitar, our clothes, and everything. But you know when I turned the corner and got out of my car and ran toward the house I was not worried one bit about those things. I was wondering where my wife and children were. Once I found them safe at a neighbors I really didn’t care too much about that old house anymore. Were we saddened over the fact we lost all those things? Sure we were. Pictures that can never be replaced were in there. A wedding gown that we had hoped to pass down some day was now ruined. We lost some precious items. We count on things like our house to keep us warm and dry and safe. But a house and all that is in it are just things. The only constant that we will ever have that can never be removed is God. In the understanding and reverence of God there is real confidence. And in Him I know my family and I are safe for all eternity.
The Word Walking In Me
Look around you just a moment and think; what would happen if this all vanished today. No chance to save any of it. Guess what, it could and it really is not that important. Its just stuff. But God will provide a way for those that rely on him. Put your faith in God, not in things. He will see you through.

Proverbs 14:27-29
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince. He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Outlook from
the In Book
Leadership can be lonely. It seems that everyone assumes that because leaders have a number of people that follow them, and that they always seem to have someone around them, that they could not be lonely. But the truth is if a leader is a true leader indeed, they will always be out in front of the people carving a path for them to follow in. Leaders are often walking on dangerous ground while others are waiting to see if it’s safe. Regularly criticized by those that follow and those that will not follow for the moves and decisions they make. Leading is lonely. But it is the only thing a true leader can do. They know no other skill. In the multitude of people who are led correctly there is honor. Without people, leaders are no longer leaders. They are just another guy on a hike. But leaders who lead incorrectly leave no followers for the leaders who come after them to lead. So how can you lead and know you are leading correctly? What is it that gives a leader confidence to take a group of people into uncharted areas of their life? Verse 27 answers that. Respect and reverence for God and our Lord Jesus Christ is a fountain of life. Leading people to Christ and into a greater walk with Him is always safe. Everything else is a gamble.
The Word Walking In Me
Everyone is a leader, like it or not. Someone is following you in the path you are walking. Where are you leading them today? It is also true that you are either leading them closer to God or farther away from Him. “Oh God, be my guide. Holy Spirit, guard my path. Jesus, be my life. Amen.”

Proverbs 14:30-32
A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor. The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
Outlook
from the In Book
Acting out a part in a play or a movie always sounds like such fun. You get to pretend like you’re someone else for a while and not who you really are. When in high school I was allowed to take part in several plays that the school put on. I played the part of Lancelot in the play “Camelot”. I also played the part of the Gentleman Caller in the play “The Glass Menagerie”. These are two distinctly different parts in two distinctly different time periods. But it was great fun being those people for a while. But when the curtain was drawn closed, so was the acting of these roles. Some people however go through their entire life trying to be something or someone they are not. Living day-to-day trying to be like someone that they admire. Dressing like them, walking like them, talking like them and just trying to be them. Sometimes to the point that they don’t even really know themselves anymore. Envy will cause a person to be a lot of things they never thought they would be. Some people become ruthless and cruel to others thinking somehow that will help them get ahead. While yet others become doormats for people to stomp on thinking that is what’s desired of fellow man. The problem is that while God gives us people that can help mold our beliefs and character, He never intended for you to become them. Be yourself. You are a great creation of God’s made to do wonderful things for Him.
The Word Walking In Me
Look around you and ask yourself, who am I? Who is it that God intended you to be. God created you special. Be His!

Proverbs 14:33-35
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
Outlook
from the In Book
All too often today we will see glamour queens and so called movie stars do shocking things that make it in the news. In fact, the more shocking their antics the more publicity it gets. These actions use to be called what they really were, publicity stunts. Things done just for the sake of getting public attention. But anymore those same things are now called “news.” I have even heard people say, “even bad news is good publicity.” Well that might work in the world’s eyes, but not in the eyes of our Lord. Our verses today say that righteousness exalted a nation. That means that a group of people that do the right things the majority of the time are what brings about the best image. Does it make good press? Well, no. But does it have to? Our lives here on earth are not for the purpose of making the headlines nor drawing the attention of the world. Our lives are to glorify God. I guess the saying “No news is good news” would fit real well here. Sooner or later sin always comes around to cause problems in people lives. People ask is drinking a sin? Well just look at all the commercials promising to help people deal with Alcoholism. Is gambling a sin? Have you seen the ads to help people deal with gambling addictions? But you never see a commercial to help people quit living for the Lord, or giving of their time and talents to help others. Sin is a reproach to any people. But living for Jesus brings true joy and satisfaction in life.
The Word Walking In Me
Living for Jesus is not hard if you are living in Jesus. It’s when we try to live for ourselves we have problems. Lets live for Him and in Him today, shall we?

Proverbs 15:1-4
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit
Outlook
from the In Book
I remember as a child watching a movie that had a line in it that said something like, to say what you mean and to mean what you say are not the same thing. To say, “I see what I eat” is not the same as to say, “I eat what I see.” The same words are used but the meaning is completely different. To see what you eat is logical and right for a sighted person. But to say I eat what I see, well that could have you over in a field eating grass, just because you saw it. Words are very important. And not only words, but also how we use them when speaking to one another. In our verses today it says “The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.” Much too often we as Christians speak before we even think of how this will affect someone else. We say things in defense of this rudeness like, “Well the truth will always be the truth no matter what.” Or I’ve heard, “I just don’t candy coat things, I give it to people just like it is.” While both of those statements can be good at times, there are other times we need to think a bit before we speak. The Bible tells us to tell the truth. But Jesus tells us to use the truth with Love. (Eph. 4:15) Love will always ask the question, “how will the one I’m saying this to or the one I am talking about understand what I am about to say and the way I say it?” Love one another. Use the truth wisely.
The Word Walking In Me
In James chapter 3 we are warned about an uncontrolled tongue. Lets begin today by using our tongue right. Let’s try to remember to first use it to speak with God before we speak with others.

Proverbs 15:5-8
A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. In the house of the righteousmuch treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolishnot so. The sacrifice of the wickedan abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the uprighthis delight.
Outlook from the In Book
Just as important as it is for us to use the proper words and tone of voice when we are telling someone something, it is also important to be careful what we hear. I’ve seen children and some adults put their fingers in their ears and go “lalala, lalala,” while someone is talking. As if to visibly and audibly tell them “I’m not listening.” Sometimes we will be a bit more subtle. While they are talking to us, we are looking everywhere but at them, as if to say, “what your saying is not important.” Another problem is when someone says something meaning one thing, we twist it in our minds to hear something else. And then when we don’t seem to understand one another we wonder why. It is so important to have not only good speaking skills, but good listening skills as well. People will often come up to share their heart and we only hear their words. Some might be looking for someone they can trust and confide in and all we see is someone doing a lot of talking. It might be God brought them to you and needs you to listen and help. It may be that God has brought a brother or sister in Christ to try help you over an area your struggling with. But instead of accepting their gesture with love, we get defensive of our private struggles. Listening is a skill that needs to be developed. Just like reading and writing, listening is something we need to work on. Are you listening to your heart now?
The Word Walking In Me
How can we practice listening? Experts say if your not sure of someone’s statement, repeat it back to them in the form of a question. Lets listen to God. And when in doubt, ask Him.

Proverbs 15:9-12
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
Outlook
from the In Book
What is an abomination? We find it written in the Bible several times and yet it is really not a word we use to often. According to the Holman Bible Dictionary it means to stink. It gives several examples. Some of which are something filthy and not acceptable for worship, rotting meat, that which is detestable, or disgusting. One of the examples is like water polluted by dead fish. Of all the examples for me that one hit home. First of all I live in Michigan about two miles from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. But every single year with the thaw of the spring sun also comes the stench of dead fish. During the spring literally hundreds of thousands of fish wash up on the shores of the beautiful beaches. It is absolutely one of the most disgusting things to look at and to smell. These beautiful sandy beaches and wonderful shoreline completely ruined by these stinking dead fish. And someone has to go out there and clean them up every year so the shores of Lake Michigan are enjoyable again. That is sort of how the Lord sees the ways of the wicked. What God had created to be beautiful and wonderful is destroyed by the filth and stench of a life of sin. And until the blood of Jesus is applied to that life and the sin is removed, it is disgusting to Him. Underneath all the debris of the world is a wonderful person waiting to be enjoyed. But someone has to clean it up.
The Word Walking In Me
Jesus died to clean up the shores of your soul. Why not let Him, and those around you see the wonderful and beautiful you that He intended for you to be?

Proverbs 15:13-16
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Outlook from the In Book
When I was a boy my mother would tell me don’t tell lies because you’ll have to tell another lie to cover the first lie and then yet another to cover that one. You will end up telling so many lies until you will not remember the original lie you told. Then you’ll get caught in your lies and no one will believe you nor like you. Those might not have been her exact words, but they are close enough. Of course she could have just quoted the commandment written in Exodus twenty that says we are not suppose to lie. But my mom knew there was more than just one reason written in the pages of God’s Word for telling the truth. In fact, she knew that God’s Word is the truth. She was simply taking the principle written in verses fourteen and fifteen of Proverbs fifteen and putting it into her own words. The mouth of fools feed on foolishness and all the days of the afflicted are evil. A lie told will have to be covered with more lies. A lie is a story or the imagination of a sinful heart. It is simply the opposite of the truth. It is foolishness. And every day becomes another twenty four hours of living or exaggerating that lie. But by exact contrast the heart of him that understands that God is all about the truth will seek the wisdom and knowledge that only God can give. And a clear conscience will bring about days of joy and contentment. It will be a continual feast of enjoying the Word of God and living for by it’s principals. The truth really does set you free.
The Word Walking In Me
Seek the truth. Tell the truth. Live the truth. Obey the truth.
And let the real Truth of God, His Son, dwell in you richly.

Proverbs 15:17-19
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
Outlook
from the In Book
Want a real romantic word? Here it is: CONTENTMENT. What, you say? How is contentment a romantic word? If I walk into the house and look at my spouse, hold their hand and say “darling, I am content with what I have” is that going to be romantic? OK, probably not. But truthfully, it is a main ingredient in holding your home together. What causes a man or woman to stray from a loving relationship? A couple that once could not keep their eyes and probably hands off one another. And now one or maybe both are out looking for someone else? Why? They have for some reason become less content than they were before. They are no longer satisfied. Why are they not satisfied? Most often it’s pride. They believe they deserve more. The Bible is clear on the intimate life of a husband and wife. It should be exciting, ongoing or never-ending. Our text says “Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.” Learning to be content with all God has given us. Not looking around thinking there is something better out there. God will has and will supply all you need in life. What keeps people from looking elsewhere? How is that possible? Know that God has put you together with the right person. Understanding that romance starts in the morning as you greet each other and continues all day so when something good happens, your spouse is the first person on your mind. It’s falling and staying in love. It’s letting God know your happy with His choice for your life. Be happy with who is in your life today.
The Word Walking In Me
Make it a point today to go the extra step and be sure that special someone knows you love him or her. You’ll be the happier if you do. Be ready to call 911. It might shock them into a heart attack.

Proverbs 15:20-23
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly. Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
Outlook
from the In Book
One of the privileges as Pastor is being with a family at the birth of their child. The smiles and joy that new birth brings is almost indescribable. The innocence of a child and dependence on the parents brings a bond between them. But part of the struggles of being a Pastor is helping a family cope as children make wrong life choices. All the joy and togetherness seems to somehow vanish. Sorrow and grief are left in its place. This often happens as children become young adults and want to be on their own. The love for them is still there, but the question of why starts popping up. Some question why God allows their child to do such things. A child they worked so hard with and tried to raise right. Why is a loving God allowing them to turn out so wrong? Parents begin to blame themselves for their children's sins. Some begin to blame God. The truth is, each one of them were created by God and placed in your care with a free will to choose what they would do. It’s not always the parent’s fault and definitely not God’s. Sometimes both God and parents have tried to give them the wisdom they need and they refuse it. The wisdom to know God personally and walk with Him on a daily basis. Without that wisdom, the sins or folly of the world seem as joy to them. This is when a family needs the comforting counsel of the church family. Without it, all the purpose of the past can seem so disappointing.
The Word Walking In Me
So what now? Never give up. At any age
they’re still your children. Never quit praying and asking your church to
join you. And lastly, be a loving example of Christ before them. Remember
they have to choose to live for God. You can’t choose for them.

Proverbs 15:24-26
The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
Outlook
from the In Book
If you were the owner of a company and two people came in to interview for the position of President of the company, which of these two would you hire? One says I can do anything you want me to do and be anything you want me to be. If you want me to I will be more than glad to tell people your not here even if you are because I know you’re a busy man that can not be disturbed. If you want I can fire as many people as you need me to without the batting of an eye. I am your come to person for anything you need. The second person comes in and says I promise I will be dedicated and loyal. I can’t be something I am not however. If your company is looking for a person to shade the truth I am probably not the person for you. Both had in a resume. The first ones says Just take a look, I have worked at several fortune five hundred companies. Sure I have been let go a few times but that is because I was a go getter and some people just have trouble with that kind of enthusiasm. The second says I hope you will look over my resume. It speaks for itself. I have only worked for a couple of places but I worked my way up in both of them. I was never been fired or dismissed from either. OK, you’re the owner who do you hire? Yea, me too. The words of the pure are pleasant words. But the proud and arrogant get on my nerves. It’s kind of neat to know they get on God’s nerves too.
The Word Walking In Me
Slow and steady wins the race. OK maybe not on earth always. But the winner at the end of the race of life goes to the child of God. Psalm 19:14 says “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Amen, mine too God. Mine too.

This year we are doing the Work
Week Devotions
All Devotions will be written and distributed Monday through Friday.
On
Saturday we suggest you re-read
the Proverb
we have written from this past week
and the week to come.
Some weeks that will be the same chapter,
while other weeks that may be two chapters.
We have never given out Bible reading for Sundays.
The reason is simple to us.
We want you to be reading and studying whatever
the Lord has laid on your Pastors heart for that week.
Whatever his text is for the Morning and Evening Service
was given to him by God for your specific needs.
The principal for this is found in the book of
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by
night unto Berea:
who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We hope you enjoy your
weekend in God's word
and pray we might see you back here on Monday
as we begin another Week
in the Word.

Proverbs 15:27-30
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live. The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
Outlook from
the In Book
I have said throughout the years that the lost in the world have no claim to the ear of God. In fact in Psalms 66:18 God tells us; “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Today again we see the same thing restated. It says that the Lord is far from the wicked. We all know that God is everywhere. He is omnipresent. So it does not mean physically far from the wicked. It is warning once again of the availability of God to the lost soul. In the midst of the worst that this world has to offer they have no hope in calling on God for help. The only prayer God is waiting to hear from the sinful soul is the one that cries out be merciful unto me a sinner. A call for salvation with a repentant heart. And God knows the difference between a truly repentant heart and one that is trying to just get out of the bad situation they have gotten into. But in this same verse we are told that God hears the prayers of the righteous. Who are they, referred to as the righteous? Those that have been made righteous by the blood of God’s Son Jesus Christ. It is not our own righteousness that causes a Holy God to bend His ear toward us. It is the perfection of His Son Jesus that clothes us to make us appear righteous to God that causes Him to continually listen to the petitions of our heart.
The Word Walking In Me
Trouble will come to everyone. That is just a given in this world filled with sin that we now live in. The question is not will troubles come, the question is who will be there with you when they do? If you call out to God for help will He hear you? If you have been saved and placed in Jesus Christ, you can know that He does.

Proverbs 15:31-33
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Outlook
from the In Book
How many times have you seen a child receive a spanking and watched as the child laughed and yelled one more, please just give me one more? Or one who has had their hand slapped say “Please slap the other one too. It has been just as bad but you never caught me.” No that probably does not happen. And with good reason. No one likes to be disciplined. It never gets better as we get older. Rarely would you hear “Oh by the way officer, I ran two other lights and parked in a handicap zone illegally. Could you write me up for those as well? I just need my insurance payment a little higher than it is now.” No one at any age likes to be disciplined. And at a quick glance you might think that is what the verses today are saying. That we should somehow take joy in being punished. But read them again. It is not the punishment that we should be glad for. If we are receiving discipline it is because we did not listen or obey what we were told to begin with. It says if we will hear the reproof of life we get understanding. It is the person that will humble themselves enough to believe that they can still learn something at any age that God counts among the wise. But to the ones that refuse to listen, well, you get the idea. Before honor comes humility. Before God can lift you up before others, He needs to know that you will be humble enough to learn even from those He lifts you up before. Many a leader that began by being so humble and grateful for the position God gave them, let pride tear down the reason they were there in the first place.
The Word Walking In Me
We need to listen everyday for the voice of the Lord. It always comes from the Bible. But it will also come at times through those He has placed around you. Listen for that still small voice. And love the fact that God is still talking with you today.

Proverbs 16:1-4
The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Outlook
from the In Book
There has long been several views as to the amount of control God exercises in the individual life of man. Some believe that man has a complete free will and that God has little or no control in ones life. While others believe that man has no control over his life at all. That God foreordained in time past if a person would go to heaven or hell. And then there are the rest of us that believe the truth dwells somewhere between both of those understandings. Believing that the Bible must never contradict itself we must also look at verse nine in this chapter to help reconcile the question at hand. It says; ”A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” Man clearly has within himself the ability to make decisions for life. To choose good or evil. If that were not so we would have no need for the sharing of the gospel at all. Man would simply just do what God designed for him to do. But to say that God does not touch the lives of man is equally absurd. If we give our lives and our ways over to the Lord He will direct our paths in ways that please Him and will also ultimately be for our own good. But God, who knows the beginning from the end also knows what will happen when sinful man rejects Him. And being God, He can even use that to fulfill the outcome He has given us in the pages of His Word. It is not now nor has it ever been God’s desire that man should die and go to hell. But He is willing to allow man to make that choice. To do otherwise would remove from man the ability to freely love Him.
The Word Walking In Me
Give today to God and see what He will do with it, and you. How? You do that moment by moment. The first one starts right now!

Proverbs 16:5-7
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Outlook
from the In Book
It seems today a lot of people are against the work of God’s people? Popular view is the order today. Not what’s right or even what’s wrong. Just simply what man wants. The democracy of mankind rules today's morals. If enough people proclaim something to be right with a loud voice for a long period of time, people begin to believe it must be so. Example; some Christians today are confused over the claim that homosexuality is a lifestyle designed at birth. The prolonged battle, loud opposing voice, and financially backed claims have clouded the truth of scripture. Even though God proclaims through all of scripture it is sin, since man now proclaims it is not, we must make laws, and spend thousands of hours and dollars in our courtrooms to keep homosexuality away from our children in school. Why? Because we have begun to believe the lie spoken by man. If it is a lifestyle from birth and God creates all people, God has then made them to be something He repeatedly says He hates. Yet the same Bible says He loves all men. Something is wrong here. What is it? It is man discarding parts of the truth. God hates sin and loves mankind. So this could not be created of God. They have joined hand in hand, promoting this sinful life. And this is but one example. The same is true in churches, homes and businesses worldwide. Selecting the truth of scripture we want to obey and discarding the rest. The Bible says they that do so, “shall not be unpunished.” Or can we through that part out of the Bible too?
The Word Walking In Me
We must again realize that the entire Word of God is true. Not just the parts that fit our current life, but all of it. We should attain to mold our life after the Bible and not mold the Bible to our life.

Proverbs 16:8-11
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Outlook
from the In Book
I have read several books this past year. Some were better than others. I took a class in counseling and had to read a textbook. That often seemed like work. But then there were those books that just drew me into them as if the story had been written around me. Like the author knew what would captivate my every thought and wrote this book just for me. All day long when I was not reading it, I found myself thinking of it. Or when I got around others I often found my conversations wound up somehow mentioning the book and the author. If we stay founded in the word of God we will also find that although our heart might devise our own way, that through the mediation on the Word of God, He will direct our steps. Once we commit ourselves to the Lord, fall in Love with His person, all we do and say are directed toward the praise and worship of Him. When Jesus becomes the center of your life then everything you say and do causes you to think of Him. We might have dreams of the future and goals that we want to move toward. But our daily steps will be directed by God if we will but let Him in our hearts. We can actually get lost in Him as we do sometimes in the pages of a real good book. In John 1:1 it says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The Word Walking In Me
As you do your Bible readings today, read with the desire in your heart of the psalmist in Psalm 119:18 that says; “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Then walk in the revelation of His person all day. Get lost in Jesus today.

Proverbs 16:12-14
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
Outlook
from the In Book
How far off course have we come in America? The Bible says it is an abomination for the king, or in the case of Americans, the president to commit wickedness. An abomination. In other words it is sickening. And it should be. Why? Because the throne or office itself is established with the concept of righteousness. That whoever holds this office would look to the one and only true King of all Kings to be their example in ever judgment and every decision that is made. That Jesus Christ who will one day rule and reign over all the earth should be their model and example of how to rule well in the high office that they are allowed to hold. But instead today we debate whether God and religion have any place in politics. Even the Church today gets upset when a preacher stands in the pulpit and says anything about the sinful life of their favorite candidate. And with the economy the way it is today, people are more and more dismissing God and true morality for someone, anyone that will tickle their ears with the hope of more money in their pocket. Sadly they have forgotten that God is the one that owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Not any political party. And even worse are those that say until the perfect man is eligible for office I will not vote. When they do so they allow all the world and its sinful ideas to have their way. To wait to vote for the perfect man to hold the office of authority will mean they will have to wait until Jesus come back. And friend. On that day there will be no vote. HE IS KING OF KINGS ALREADY!
The Word Walking In Me
So what can we do today you may ask? The one thing we should have been doing all along. Hold leadership to the highest of true moral standards. And then most importantly, Pray that God will turn their heart toward Him. Pray daily for all in authority over you.
