MARCH ARCHIVES
March 1st
This year we are doing the Work
Week Devotions
All Devotions will be written and distributed Monday through Friday.
On
Saturday we suggest you re-read
the Proverb
we have written from this past week
and the week to come.
Some weeks that will be the same chapter,
while other weeks that may be two chapters.
We have never given out Bible reading for Sundays.
The reason is simple to us.
We want you to be reading and studying whatever
the Lord has laid on your Pastors heart for that week.
Whatever his text is for the Morning and Evening Service
was given to him by God for your specific needs.
The principal for this is found in the book of
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by
night unto Berea:
who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We hope you enjoy your
weekend in God's word
and pray we might see you back here on Monday
as we begin another Week
in the Word.

Proverbs 6:16-19
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea,
seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands
that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet
that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Outlook
from the In Book
As Christians we all retain the old sin
nature. It’s possible for anyone to be temped and give in to sin. Sin cannot
however be a saved persons lifestyle. A saved person will desire above all
else to be more like their Saviour Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:9 was placed in
scripture for the saved that give in to sins temptations. It tells us how to
get back where we should be in fellowship with God. But what God truly
cannot stand is the sin of pre-meditated sin. Planning on sinning thinking
God has to forgive you some day. God will forgive you of your sin, but does
not always take away the penalty of that sin. And there are those that
cannot wait to sin. Their feet are swift to run to mischief. Not only plan
and meditate on it, but can’t wait to get to it. If only Christians were so
eager to serve as some sinners are eager to sin. Of the first six things the
Lord hates, we find lying to be part of two of them. God hates lying, but
even more so falsely accusing another person. Not only have you sinned, but
you have also defamed the character of another. Something that God hold’s
dear, their testimony. We should guard our testimony as if it were gold. God
truly hates it when someone tries to falsely tear that down. The last is an
abomination unto God. Abomination carries the meaning of something that
stinks and will turn your stomach. What turns God’s Stomach? People
gossiping, slandering, exaggerating, lying and dividing the people He
loves. It makes God sick.
The Word
Walking In Me
God is a God of reconciliation. To himself and to one another. He has never been the God of division. Lets try to be more like Him.

Proverbs 6:20-22
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and
forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and
tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest,
it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
Outlook from
the In Book
Solomon was a God fearing man. It is believed
that the mothers of these children were also women that would give Godly advice.
Today we have families where one parent is saved and another not. Some families
where there is only one parent in the home. And many homes where neither father
nor mother have any spiritual beliefs at all. So how do we apply this passage in
a home where the words spoken by one or both parents that are not saved might
not actually be Biblical guidance? We first of all must remember that the Bible
tells us to honor our parent’s regardless of their spiritual position. We must
do all that we can to be obedient to them without violating God’s word. But we
must also understand that the wisdom spoken of here is Godly guidance. Only the
leadership of Godly knowledge can make a true everlasting difference in your
life. Even unsaved parents will in most cases give some good advice not
realizing it has anything to do with the Bible. Don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t
cheat, don’t hang out with the wrong crowd, and so on. Not realizing it, they
are telling you what God’s word is telling you also. Why? Because it is inherent
in us to want our children to do what’s right and have more than we ever had.
Even most unsaved parents will want something better for their children. It’s
logical that if you live right in the day, you can sleep better at night. No
guilt, no shame, no reason to lose sleep. Why? Because you followed God’s way in
the day, and can trust He will keep you in the night.

Walking In Me
Why are people afraid in the night? Because they can’t see what’s out there. But God can. And He watches over us.

Proverbs 6:23-24
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Outlook
from the In Book
When I was younger it was COOL for people to have oil lamps in their house for decoration. They did not cost much and they looked kind of neat just sitting on the shelf. So I bought one. Filled it with that red colored oil and set it aside. One day I got the bright idea to light it and watch TV by lamplight. I know nothing about oil lamps, as you will be able to tell. I thought if you wanted a little light you have a little wick showing. If you want a lot of light you just turn up the wick. Made sense to me. Even seemed to work when I first set fire to the wick. I turned the wick up and placed the glass globe over it and away she burned. I sat down to watch TV and did not notice that this wick was starting to turn the glass globe black along with the ceiling above it. When I turned off the TV it was dark in the room. The only light was coming out of the top of the lamp going to the ceiling (which by now was black and reflecting little light.) I could see nothing from the sides through the glass. There was a fire there, but no light. So it is with many people today. They have the word of God in their house, but it sheds no light. The light comes when you apply the word of God in your heart. To know in you head what Gods word says and not do it is like that flame in my old oil lamp. The flame was there but could not do anyone any good. The only way for God’s word to do you or anyone any good is to believe it, understand it, and live by it. Then it will direct your paths.
The Word Walking In Me
“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” Remember that little Sunday school song? For Gods word to shine out, it has to get in first. Lets hide God’s word in our heart so we can shine for Him.

Proverbs 6:25-28
Lust not after her
beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by
means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the
adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his
bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his
feet not be burned
Outlook
from the In Book
Almost everyone has heard at one time or
another, “if you play with fire your going to get burned.” Oh how true that
is. When I was a very little boy I am told that I leaned over a hot flame
somehow burned a place on my stomach. I don’t really remember it happening.
I know that I have never done it again so I must have learned a lesson not
to do that. But the memory was part of a very early childhood that I, like
most don’t remember. I might have been 2 or 3 years old at the time. So what
would cause my parents to bring that up and tell me about it? Were they just
wanting to be sure when I was older that I would never get burnt again? No.
Did they somehow get a kick out of telling how dumb their child was at that
age? No, I was a child, not dumb, just curious. So why did they share the
story with me? It was because on my stomach there is a one-inch square area
that was lighter than the rest of my skin there. I had a scar and wanted to
know where it came from. So they told me. As a young boy I felt a little
self-conscious about it, but now it is almost not noticeable unless I point
it out. But it’s still there. Solomon is saying to his son that sexual sin
will always do you that way. Although the sinful act may be far behind you,
it will scar you for life. It might be that someday it’s not as noticeable
or memorable as before, but it’s always there. Just like that scar on my
belly.
The Word
Walking In Me
So how do we keep that from happening? Well it’s simple. If had not leaned over the flame, I would not have the scar. If we stay clear from sexual sin we will never have to carry any of the scars.

Proverbs 6:29-31
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Outlook
from the In Book
If I am a thief and I decide to steal something from you, I can almost always give it back or replace it. If I have told a lie, I can tell the truth and make it kind of right. Even if I am a murderer, I can give my life for the taking of another. In all these things there is a payment that can be paid to somewhat satisfy the penalty for that sin. But in sexual sin, there is none. A man or woman who betrays the trust of a loving spouse can never ever get that thought out of their mind. We might forgive one another and by the grace of God continue in our life, but adultery carries with it a penalty that can hardly be paid. It is that feeling of guilt and betrayal that cannot be paid. If a man or woman finds their spouse having an affair, it will cut to the very heart of their relationship. A marital relationship is built on love, trust and honesty. Without these we really have no marriage. How can two be one if they cannot trust and be honest with one another? How can two be one if they do not love one another? It would be like the mind telling the hand, “really, its ok, just stick yourself in that running fan.” When the hand does, it would be cut and mangled. Why? Because it trusted the mind to be honest with it and love it enough to tell it the truth. Once the body finds the mind to be dishonest with the hand, none of the body will trust it. The same is true in a marriage. Once this area of trust is violated, it seems to destroy all the areas of a marital relationship. Trust may be restored over time. Memories last a lifetime.
The Word Walking In Me
Pray that God might keep you faithful in your marriage. If your not married pray for the Lord to match your with someone you can truly fall in love with for life.
